Meet Shirley
Founder & Head Instructor
For over two decades, Shirley has dedicated her career to teaching safe and confident driving. As the founder of DriveTreck Driving Academy, she personally design and establish the Graduated Licensing Program (GLP) defensive-driving curriculum in collaboration with ICBC, setting the foundation for how new drivers across B.C. learn today.
Her expertise and passion for road safety have earned recognition from Vancouver City Councils, Vancouver School Board Trustees, recognized profit and non-profit organization where she continues to lead youth-focused safety initiatives through the Road Safety Ambassador Program.
In addition, Shirley Sio has great experience in supporting students with diverse learning needs, ensuring an inclusive, respectful, and learner-centered experience for every individual. She also integrates guiding principles inspired by Indigenous Ways of Knowing—such as respect, responsibility, relational learning, and community awareness throughout all courses—to create a safe and meaningful learning environment for all students.

Our Instructors
At DriveTreck, every instructor is personally selected, trained, and mentored by our founder, Shirley — ensuring that each one reflects the academy’s values of patience, professionalism, and precision. Our team represents decades of combined experience across all types of driving, from new learners to advanced Class 4 training.
Each instructor undergoes continuous evaluation and refresher programs designed by Shirley herself, so our teaching methods always align with ICBC standards and modern defensive-driving principles. This means every student learns from an instructor who not only knows how to teach but knows how to bring out confidence in every situation — city traffic, parallel parking, or the high-pressure moments of a road test.
Beyond skill, our instructors are chosen for their empathy and communication. They understand that every student learns differently, and they adapt lessons with patience and encouragement. The result is a calm, constructive learning environment that helps students feel capable and prepared from their first lesson to their final test.

Our Location
Richmond Training Facility – No Pickups Required
Pick-up and drop-off are available, but travel time counts toward your lesson. Most students meet directly at the road test location to maximize effective practice time in alignment with the structured curriculum design.
