1. ICBC Approved (GLP) Driver Training Course

WHAT IS GLP COURSE?

DRIVER TRECK ACADEMY OFFERS ICBC-APPROVED GLP COURSE- GLP stands for Graduation Learner Program.

The courses emphasize safe driving skills, thorough preparation for road tests, and the development of a responsible mindset while driving.

New drivers or individuals who take the course can greatly benefit from professional driver training:

  • Teenagers who are at the grade 11 level, benefit of earning 2 high school credits after graduated from this course
  • Students who fulfill all their course obligations within one year from their “GLP Start Date” qualify for a six-month reduction in the “N” stage of their license 
  • Participated in our 32 hours “The Circle of Drive with Care Youth Ambassador Program” (All ages of successfully graduated students have the opportunity to shorten their graduated licensing period by six months.)

GLP TRAINING FOR NEW DRIVERS

ICBC-GLP approved driver training courses are designed to engage new drivers in an enjoyable and interactive manner. The courses emphasize safe driving skills, thorough preparation for road tests, and the development of a responsible mindset while driving.

To meet ICBC’s standards, approved courses must include:

  • A minimum of 16 hours of in-class instruction. 
  • At least 12 hours of on-road instruction

2. Drive Without Fear: A Therapy Program

At Drive Treck Academy, we take great pride in our unique approach to driving coaching, which has proven to be extremely beneficial for many individuals who have struggled with anxiety and fear while driving. We understand that a traumatizing car accident, an unsupportive mentor, or even a lack of confidence can be challenging obstacles to overcome, and that’s why our program has been specifically designed to help our clients succeed.

We recognize that vehophobia can be paralyzing and the fear and anxiety of hurting yourself or someone else while driving can be debilitating. However, we firmly believe that with the right support, our clients can overcome these fears and achieve their goal of becoming safe, confident, knowledgeable, and skilled defensive drivers.

During your FREE 15 minute initial intake, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with your coach and discuss your individual needs and concerns. Together, you and your coach will create a personalized plan tailored to help you achieve your driving goals.

We understand that safety is a top priority, which is why our in-car coaching sessions take place in a certified and inspected vehicle by ICBC, equipped with dual pedals. 1. Private In Car Lesson
a. 1-hour in-car driving practice in for all skill levels. Ideal for students who are seeking for a refreshing driving skills before their event or road test
 
b. 2-hours session of in-car driving practice, suitable for individuals of all proficiency levels. Perfect for students desiring a comprehensive lesson on specific driving aspects and to practice SEE-THINK-DO strategy for their road test. Please ensure you are well-rested, as 120 minutes of driving can be tiring.
 
c.Road Tests can be booked either by the student or by DriveTreck Driving Academy.  The student must sign a consent and release form before Drive Treck Driving Academy may book a road test on their behalf.  Drive Treck Driving Academy will abstain from renting a motor vehicle to any student considered unqualified for the road test examination subsequent to an assessment test. Students are obligated to attend all classes in full, as determined by the assessment test. This policy is enacted to ensure the safety and welfare of the student, as well as the residents of British Columbia and the involved ICBC examiner. Drive Treck Driving Academy will exclusively schedule road tests for students who have been deemed qualified according to the school’s assessment.

IMPORTANT: When making a reservation for this package, please choose a time slot that is 2 hours prior to your ICBC appointment to allow for the warm-up drive. For instance, if your check-in time is set for 10:00 am, select the 8:00 am time slot with DriveTreck Academy.

2. Commerical Driver: Class 4 Knowledge Study In Class Learning
This comprehensive course is designed to prepare individuals for the Class 4 Knowledge Test, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the examination. Whether you’re pursuing a career in transportation or simply seeking to expand your driving credentials, this course offers a structured approach to understanding the essential concepts required for success.
 
Taught by experienced instructors in various languages.  This course emphasizes not only the acquisition of knowledge but also the development of critical thinking and decision-making skills essential for navigating diverse driving situations effectively. By the end of the course, participants will feel confident and well-prepared to tackle the Class 4 Knowledge Test, paving the way for a successful and fulfilling journey towards obtaining their Class 4 driver’s license.
 
3. Commerical Driver: Class 4 Unrestricted/ Restricted
A Class 4 Unrestricted license enables drivers to operate a range of commercial vehicles, encompassing:
 
Buses with a seating capacity of up to 25 individuals, covering school buses, special activity buses, and vehicles designated for transporting individuals with disabilities.
  • Taxis
  • Ridesharing vehicles
  • Limousines
  • Ambulances
  • Any motor vehicle specified under the Class 5 license category.
 

A Class 4 Restricted license permits drivers to operate specified commercial vehicles, which include:

  • Ridesharing vehicles
  • Taxis and Limousines (with a maximum capacity of 10 individuals, including the driver)
  • Ambulances
  • Specialized vehicles designed for transporting individuals with disabilities (with seating for no more than 10 individuals, including the driver)
  • Any motor vehicle specified within the Class 5 license category.
 

Requirements for obtaining a Class 4 License

In British Columbia, individuals seeking to obtain a commercial license must satisfy the following criteria:

  • Possession of a Class 5 or 6 license, or an equivalent from another province.
    A driving record showing fewer than four penalty points within the preceding two years.
  • No Criminal Code convictions related to motor vehicles in the past three years.
  • Compliance with medical standards and successful completion of a driver’s medical examination.
  • Successful completion of a road test using a vehicle appropriate for the Class 4 license category.
  • Settlement of all outstanding fines or debts owed to ICBC.

5. The Circle of Drive With Care Youth Leadership Program

DriveTreck Academy, TUEX Education, and The Circle of MA have established a powerful partnership to introduce a Youth Program that aims to create a safer and better environment for our schools and communities. The Circle of Drive with Care Leadership Program is an initiative that honours and applauds the youth in our society who exhibit the qualities of responsible driving and leadership.

The Circle of Drive with Care Youth Leadership Program is open to applicants aged 16-33, who are in any stage of the ICBC licensing process. We select 2-6 youth ambassadors each year from across British Columbia, and they may serve up to two terms. This program is supported by our one of our School Board Trustees, contributing to the promotion of a healthier and safer community in Metro Vancouver, BC.  Please click here for more information of the program.
