Drive Treck Driving Academy: A GLP Program
————————————————————————————————————
Hello Readers,
My name is Amy Yang and I am the road safety visual arts ambassador for promoting safe driving through posters and graphics.
I created these five posters with striking visuals designed to catch the attention of fellow drivers to inform them of the dangers of distracted driving. These posters are meant to encapsulate the importance of avoiding unnecessary risks while driving.
Distractions may include drinking, texting, or calling a friend while driving. When you are on the road it is critical that you give your undivided attention to the road in front of you and around you, it is best to keep those phones down.
#1 Safe Driving does not look like Driving Under The Influence
When you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol your vision will be impaired and drowsiness will take over. This is not an ideal state for you to be behind the wheels. If you intend to drink, you must bring a designated driver with you. Alternatives to driving yourself while drunk would be calling a trusted and sober friend or family member to give you a ride home.
#2 One Way Road to the Hospital
This poster is meant to depict the severity of consuming multiple beers before you get in car. By the time you’ve reached your last drink you’ve also reached the hospital given the likelihood of an accident occurring. Think twice before getting in a car after you’ve had a couple drinks.
#3 Keep the Bottle Closed.
Alcohol is highly flammable. Given that, alcohol and cars do not belong together. In order to prevent the multiple disastrous situations which you could induce, keep that bottle closed when you enter the car.
#4 Wipe your Distractions
Checking social media and messages have become a vital part of people’s daily routine nowadays. It’s extremely easy to access too, it is possible to check almost anywhere at anytime. Despite that being true, restraining yourself is important. This poster asks the drivers to remove all distractions before taking a drive. Close your phone and keep your eyes on the road ahead of you.
#5 Shut Down Distractions
Another cell phone related poster shows that without silencing your phone, the rising messages can draw your attention away from the road in front of you. Best option would be to turn off your sound and turn on ‘focus mode’ or ‘do not disturb’.
I chose graphics and designs to depict driving risks and grasp the attention of drivers with the bold visuals. I hope now you will be able to SEE and understand the hazards of distracted driving, THINK about your next course of action on the road, and DO the right thing.
