Policies & Terms

Terms & Conditions / Refund Policy

Fairness & safetyClear communicationStudent-first approach

These policies are designed to ensure fairness, safety, and clear communication between our students and instructors. Please review them carefully before booking lessons or packages with DriveTreck.

Lesson Duration
+

All lessons are structured as 2-hour sessions to help students build confidence and maintain consistent focus. For custom lessons, the maximum duration is 3 hours. The minimum class time is 1.5 hours, reserved for students who are already near road test standards or have specific medical conditions.

Scheduling & Attendance
+
  • Students are responsible to arrive on time for each scheduled session. Lessons start and end at their designated times.
  • If a student arrives late, the session will still end as scheduled. If an instructor is delayed, the missed time will be added or rescheduled.
Package Rate
+

Our regular hourly rate is $100 per hour. Because DriveTreck is supported by community organizations across Metro BC and regularly receives funding, we offer a reduced hourly rate of $80 per hour for all programs: GLP (Class 7), Class 5N, and Class 4.

Cancellations & Rescheduling
+
  • All cancellations or rescheduling requests must be made at least 48 hours in advance.
  • Cancellations or no-shows inside 48 hours are charged the full lesson fee, as this time cannot be filled by another student.
  • We understand that emergencies or medical issues may arise. In these situations, official medical documentation is required to waive late-cancellation charges.
  • We also recognize that some students may experience stronger symptoms during their monthly cycle; if this applies to you, we recommend avoiding bookings during that time to prevent late cancellations and additional fees.
Refunds & Package Policy
+
  • No refunds are issued for completed lessons.
  • All lessons and packages must be paid in full at the time of booking; payments are processed securely through our booking system.
  • Lesson packages must be used and fully scheduled within 12 months of purchase. Any remaining or unscheduled lessons after this period automatically expire and are non-refundable.
  • Unused lessons in a package that meet the 48-hour cancellation rule are refundable based on the number of remaining lessons.
  • All refund requests must be submitted in writing to DriveTreck and, if approved, are processed within 7 business days.
Car Rental for Road Test
+

At DriveTreck Driving Academy, we only provide our vehicles for road tests to students who have trained with us and have been assessed to meet ICBC road test standards (Class 7, Class 5L, Class 5, Class 4 Restricted). This protects the safety of you, the ICBC examiner, and everyone on the road.

  • New students must first take lessons so we can evaluate driving skills, help you adapt to B.C. traffic laws, and confirm that you are road-test ready.
  • We do not rent vehicles to students who have not taken classes with us.
  • This service is reserved for students who have completed at least 3 hours of in-car lessons with DriveTreck and have been assessed by our instructors as being very close to exam standards, or who have completed a mock exam with us.
Road Test Vehicle Rentals Rescheduling
+
  • If ICBC reschedules your test for any reasons, we will not refund your vehicle booking fee and the vehicle booking fee cannot be transferred to other road test day, as the vehicle has already been reserved specifically for your scheduled time.
  • Cancellations made within 48 hours of the booking are non-refundable.
ICBC Road Test Booking Responsibilities
+

DriveTreck Driving Academy does not book road tests for students. Our office hours (8:00 am–5:00 pm, Mon–Sat) may not match students’ availability, which can delay booking or late rescheduling. All students are required to book, confirm, and cancel their own ICBC road tests online.

For step-by-step instructions, please visit the ICBC Learner Centre. Any late-cancellation fees related to the road test are charged directly by ICBC, not DriveTreck.

ICBC Driver Training Code of Conduct
+

The ICBC Driver Training Code of Conduct outlines the professional standards all licensed driver-training schools and instructors must follow in British Columbia. It requires honesty, safety, respect, and non-discriminatory conduct when working with students and the public. It also prohibits misleading promises, unsafe practices, sexual harassment, and any actions that undermine ICBC’s licensing system.

All licensees must comply with these standards at all times to maintain their training licence. We encourage all students to review this document before training.

Instructor Assignments
+

DriveTreck reserves the right to substitute instructors when necessary due to illness, scheduling conflicts, or emergencies. If you are not comfortable with an assigned instructor, please notify us immediately and we will arrange a replacement where possible.

Weather & Unforeseen Circumstances
+

We teach in all weather conditions, as real-world experience in rain, fog, and other conditions is important for building safe habits. Lessons are only suspended during natural disasters or unsafe weather emergencies where driving would be clearly dangerous.

Student Conduct & Safety
+
  • Students are expected to follow all road safety laws and instructions from their instructor.
  • If a student arrives to a lesson impaired (drugs or alcohol) or behaves in a verbally or physically aggressive manner toward our instructors, the instructor has the full right to end the lesson immediately without further explanation.
  • No refunds will be provided for that lesson or for any lessons cancelled within 48 hours in connection with such behavior. Refunds for lessons cancelled more than 48 hours in advance may still be issued according to our refund policy.
Liability & Disclaimer
+

DriveTreck Driving Academy and its instructors are not liable for any damages, injuries, or traffic violations that occur during or after lessons. Students are responsible for any tickets or penalties incurred while operating the vehicle.

Privacy Policy Summary
+

DriveTreck collects personal information only for scheduling, communication, and ICBC-compliant recordkeeping. Your data will never be shared or sold to third parties.

Policy Updates
+

DriveTreck reserves the right to update these Terms & Conditions at any time. Changes will be posted on our website and apply to all future bookings.
